When your research needs something special, we can make it for you.
Sometimes, what your research needs isn’t on a catalog. Sometimes, you need a custom conjugation, a carrier-free solution, or even a novel reagent. That’s why we have custom services.
As a group of scientists who’ve been designing, developing, and validating reagents in-house for decades, we’re confident we can construct whatever your research needs.

Antibodies
All our antibodies are affinity purified on immobilized antigens and come with details of the antigen sequence and binding location. We characterize and validate all our primary antibodies with the most relevant applications, which include western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, or FACS.
- Order larger amounts of antibody and we will provide you with a bulk discount.
- Order antibodies vials in a volume more suitable for your experiments, beyond the standard sizes on the catalog.
Reserve a specific antibody lot that you’ve had success with.
Have a primary antibody conjugated to a specific tag to better meet the needs of your research.
This fluorescent labeling service includes:
- Production of the requested unconjugated antibody by affinity purification and validation via western blot alongside a current lot of the same antibody.
- Conjugation of the purified and validated antibody to the fluorescent tag of your choice.
- This process uses amine-reactive reagents that covalently attach the chosen fluorophore to primary amine groups (i.e., protein lysines).
- Removal of any free fluorophore and establishing the extent of labeling (amount of fluorophore molecules per antibody molecule).
This service does not include:
- Validation of the final conjugated antibody via bioassays such as flow cytometry or immunocytochemistry.
There are several types of biotin tags available and, depending on what assay you plan to use, the optimal biotin tag can vary. For example, biotin tags that have longer spacer arms (to better separate the biotin tag from the bulky antibody frame), are often better suited for live cells bioassay. As a result, avidin or streptavidin has better access to the biotin thanks to the reduced steric hindrance between the biotin moiety and oligo afforded by the longer spacer, which in turn improves detection.
Another variation is to have a biotin tag spacer that includes a cleavable region to enable the biotin group to be disconnected from the antibody when appropriate. Other biotin tags with other characteristics are available, such as PEGylated spacers or bi-functional tags (with both biotin and a FITC molecule, for example).
Let us know what you need, and we can add a biotin tag to an antibody of your choosing.
This biotin labeling service includes:
- Production of the requested antibody by affinity purification and validation via western blot alongside a current lot of the same antibody before conjugation.
- Conjugation to the purified and tested antibody using the chosen biotin tag.
- Unless you specify otherwise, we use a medium-chain (spacer length 22.4 Å), NHS-ester activated biotinylation reagent that labels primary amines (i.e., protein lysines).
- Removal of any free biotin and establishing the extent of labeling (amount of biotin molecules per antibody molecule).
- Validation of the biotin-conjugated antibody via western blot. This should be available as optional with extra price!
The biotin labeling service does not include:
- Validation of the conjugated antibody via bioassays such as flow cytometry or immunocytochemistry.
Conjugate an antibody
The antibody is provided as a lyophilized powder in PBS (pH7.4, 1% BSA, 0.05% NaN3).
Have a primary antibody in a carrier-free format: free from bovine serum albumin (BSA) or sodium azide (NaN3). While these additives help to maintain antibody stability and prevent contamination, they can sometimes interfere with processes like conjugation or cytometry by time of flight (CyTOF). In those instances, carrier-free antibodies are ideal.
This carrier-free service includes production of the requested antibody by affinity purification and validated by western blot alongside a current lot of the same antibody. The antibodies tested are in the same carrier-free formulation as the antibody being produced for you.
Venom Toxins
Toxins have been a specialty of ours ever since Alomone Labs was founded. All toxins come with detailed bioassay testing data so you can see just how well they perform.
Order larger amounts of a toxin and we will provide you with a bulk discount.
Have one of our toxins conjugated to a specific tag, like an ATTO fluor or biotin, to create a labeled toxin.
This fluorescent labeling service includes:
- Production of the requested toxin and complete characterization by HPLC analysis, mass spectroscopy, and biological activity before conjugation.
- Conjugation to the purified and tested toxin with the label of your choice using amine-reactive reagents that covalently attach the chosen fluorophore to primary amine groups (e.g., N-terminus, lysine (Lys, K) amino acid residues).
- Removal of any free dye and establishing the extent of labeling (amount of fluorophore molecules per toxin molecule).
- Your final product is fully characterized by HPLC, MS analysis, and biological activity. (Biological activity assay eliminates non-active conjugates.)
What the service does not include:
- Testing of the conjugated toxin by staining experiments.
There are several types of biotin tags available and, depending on what assay are you planning to use the conjugated toxin for, the optimal biotin tag may vary.
Unless you specify something else, we use an intermediate-length spacer arm (22.4 Å), which provides an excellent balance between adequate length (minimal steric hindrance for biotin binding) and modest mass.
This biotin labeling service includes
- Production of the requested toxin and complete characterization by HPLC analysis, mass spectroscopy, and biological activity before conjugation.
- Conjugation to the purified and tested toxin with biotin NHS-ester reagent. NHS-activated biotins react efficiently with primary amino groups e.g., N-terminus, lysine (Lys, K) amino acid residues).
- Removal of any free biotin and establishing the extent of labeling (amount of biotin molecules per toxin molecule).
- Your final product is fully characterized by HPLC, MS analysis, and biological activity. (Biological activity assay eliminates non-active conjugates.)
The biotin labeling service does not include:
- Testing of the conjugated toxin by staining experiments.
