Molarity Calculator

Mass (g) = Concentration (mol/L) x Volume (L) x Molecular Weight (g/mol / Da)

g/mol (Da)

How to use the Molarity Calculator

  • Mass*: The weight of the substance (e.g., grams, milligrams).
  • Concentration**: The molar concentration of the substance (e.g., molar, micromolar).
  • Volume: The total solution volume (e.g., liters, milliliters).
  • Molecular Weight (MW): The mass of one mole of a substance (Dalton (Da) = g/mol).

* Mass = amount in vial = product size

** Concentration (M) = molar concentration (moles of solute per liter of solution); 1 M = 1 mol/L

To use: Fill in any three of the four fields. The calculator will automatically determine the value for the empty field.

Stock Solution Tip: When preparing stock solutions, always use the specific molecular weight (MW) indicated on the product's vial label, Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), or product page.

Reconstitution Assistant

This calculator is ideal for finding the Volume to add to reconstitute a product.

Workflow Example:

  1. Define the final working concentration range for your experiment.
  2. When possible, multiply this value by 100 or 1000 to prepare a stock solution.
  3. Calculate amount of solution to add:
    • Enter the Mass (amount in vial).
    • Enter the desired Concentration (your stock concentration).
    • Enter the Molecular Weight (from the product info).
    • Leave Volume empty and click Calculate.
  4. Aliquot the reconstituted solution into small portions and store at -20°C.
  5. For use, thaw the required vial and dilute to the desired working concentration in your working buffer.
  6. Always centrifuge all product preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).

Formula: Volume to add = Amount in vial ÷ [Concentration × Molecular Weight]

How to use the Dilution Calculator

This calculator uses the C1V1 = C2V2 formula to help you plan a dilution from a stock solution.

  • Stock Concentration (C1): The concentration of your starting solution.
  • Stock Volume (V1): The volume of the stock solution you will need to use.
  • Final Concentration (C2): The desired concentration of your final solution.
  • Final Volume (V2): The desired total volume of your final, diluted solution.

To use: Fill in any three of the four fields above and click "Calculate". The calculator will find the value for the empty field.
