Overview
Cat #:
RIC-001
Lyophilized Powder yes
Type: Polyclonal
Host: Rabbit
Purity Serum from non-immunized rabbits was pooled and the IgG fraction was purified on a Protein A column.
Form Lyophilized powder. Reconstituted antibody contains phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4, 1% BSA, 0.05% NaN3.
Isotype Rabbit IgG
Specificity The IgG fraction was purified from non-immunized rabbits.
Storage before reconstitution The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, it should be stored at -20°C.
Reconstitution 50 µl double distilled water (DDW).
Antibody concentration after reconstitution 0.8 mg/ml.
Working dilution The isotype control antibody should be used at the exact same dilution of the experimental antibody
Storage after reconstitution The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C, protected from the light, for up to 1 week. For longer periods, small aliquots should be stored at -20°C. Avoid multiple freezing and thawing. Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10000 × g 5 min).
Standard quality control of each lot Flow cytometry
Applications: fc, ih, ip
Negative control in immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and surface staining flow cytometry applications.
Immunoprecipitation
- Immunoprecipitation of rat brain lysates using SV2A and isotype control antibodies1. Brain lysate (input)
2. Brain lysate + Protein A beads + Rabbit IgG Isotype Control (#RIC-001), (4µg).
3. Brain lysate + Protein A beads + Anti-SV2A (ANR-095), (4µg).
Black arrow indicates the SV2A protein, Red arrow indicates the IgG heavy chain. Western blot was conducted using Anti-SV2A (ANR-095), (1:500).
Immunohistochemistry
- Comparison of immunostaining with SSTR1 compared to immunostaining with isotype control antibody in rat cortex.A. Immunohistochemical staining of perfusion-fixed frozen rat brain sections with Anti-Somatostatin Receptor Type 1 (extracellular) Antibody (#ASR-001), (1:300), followed by goat anti-rabbit-AlexaFluor-488. SSTR1 immunoreactivity (green), appears in neuron outlines, in both dendrites (right pointing arrows) and soma (left pointing arrows). B. Staining of sequential sections with Rabbit IgG Isotype Control (#RIC-001), (1:300), followed by goat anti-rabbit-AlexaFluor-488, shows background signal. Cell nuclei are stained with DAPI (blue).

Isotype controls are primary antibodies that lack specificity to the target, but match the class and type of the primary antibody used in the application. Isotype controls are used as negative controls to help differentiate non-specific background signal from specific antibody signal.
Our Rabbit IgG Isotype Control (#RIC-001), was specifically developed to be used as a negative control in immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry and surface staining flow cytometry applications, along our line of rabbit primary antibodies.
